Harris County Commissioners Court on March 14 approved spending $159,108 to hire a consultant to design improvements to Beamer Road at FM 2351 in Precinct One.
Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. will design the reconstruction of the existing two-lane road to provide a through lane along with right and left turning lanes in both directions. The estimated construction cost is $1.5 million.
Construction is expected to start in the last quarter of the year. It should take from three to four months to complete.
In October, Phase I of Beamer construction was completed. That project between Tall Ships Lane and West Bay Area Boulevard included a four-lane, divided roadway with traffic signal upgrades, storm sewer and drainage improvements.
