Precinct One Re-Opens Parks and Resumes Seniors’ Programs

Harris County Precinct One has re-opened most of its 27 parks with the exception of Sheldon Sports Complex, Challenger Seven Memorial, Frankie Carter Randolph and Tom Bass III.

About 70 percent of 309-acre Deussen Park on Lake Houston is open. But the open-air, No. 4 and No. 5 pavilions, and all boat ramps remain closed because of storm debris caused by Hurricane Harvey.

At Challenger Seven, the Learning Center received water damage and is closed to the public for repairs.

With the exception of the Tom Bass Community Center, which is closed until further notice, the Precinct’s six other community centers re-opened Tuesday to host seniors’ programs.

The after-school programs at Finnigan Youth Education Town (YET) and Lincoln Park Community Center have not yet resumed. However, youth ages 6 and older can enjoy free-play basketball and other activities from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. at Finnigan Park’s gym and from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. at Lincoln Park Community Center.
