Food and Water Distribution Misinformation

06 Aug, 24

Dear Friends,

While we understand that the road to recovery in the wake of Hurricane Beryl is long for many, we are no longer able to distribute and deliver food, ice, and water to residents. Unfortunately, there is some misinformation circulating in our communities regarding resources being provided by our office. We hope this communication helps to address this misunderstanding.

That being said, we persist in aiding those in need to the best of our abilities. Our team acted swiftly to provide resources and services to the community in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. As our community works to recover, we continue to:

1. Pick up debris if you call (346)-286-2125, or the Harris County Debris Hotline, (713) 274-3880

2. Maintain four public debris drop-off locations:

  • Hutcheson Park, 5400 Lockwood Dr, Houston, TX 77026 – VEGETATIVE, CONSTRUCTION, AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS ACCEPTED
  • Miller Road Service Center, 15530 Miller Rd 1, Houston, TX 77049 – VEGETATIVE, CONSTRUCTION, AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS ACCEPTED
  • Tom Bass Community Center, 15108 Cullen Blvd, Houston, TX 77047 – VEGETATIVE, CONSTRUCTION, AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS ACCEPTED
  • Bane Park, 9600 W Little York Rd, Houston, TX 77040 - VEGETATIVE, CONSTRUCTION, AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS ACCEPTED

3. Connect residents with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Small Business Association (SBA) resources, including directing residents to any of the six Disaster Recovery Centers now operating in Harris County:

  • Acres Homes Multi-Service Center: 6719 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX, 77091
  • Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center: 6402 Market St, Houston, TX 77020
  • Felix L. Baldree Building: 13828 Corpus Christi St, Houston, TX 77523
  • Pasadena Convention Center: 7902 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77507
  • Thomas A. Glazier Senior Education Center: 16600 Pine Forest Ln, Houston, TX 77084
  • Spring Spirit: 8526 Pitner Rd, Houston, TX 77080

We appreciate our staff and community volunteers who mobilized to support the distribution of food, ice, and water to our residents in need, and again, we remain committed to supporting our residents with accessing debris pick-up, debris drop-off, and federal recovery resources from FEMA and SBA.

Sincerely,

Rodney Ellis
