Houston Rockets player Amen Thompson, mascot Clutch and the team’s staff on Thursday joined Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and his staff to give storm victims water, tarps and meals ready to eat (MRE) at Finnigan Park in Fifth Ward.
Since last Thursday’s devastating storms damaged homes and left more than 900,000 people without electricity, Precinct One has been handing out resources at Finnigan Park, Lincoln Park Community Center and Julia C. Hester House. However, people driving through at Finnigan on Thursday got an extra treat when they saw Thompson and Clutch distributing supplies.
“In Clutch City, we come together in a crisis,” Commissioner Ellis said. “We are definitely grateful for the Houston Rockets to come out and brighten up the lives of people who are otherwise struggling to stay cool and hydrated in the heat. This, however, is not the first time the Houston Rockets organization has teamed with Precinct One to give back to the community.”
