Commissioner Ellis, Rep. Jackson Lee, Others to Cut Ribbon on Recently Completed Almeda Road Trail

02 Mar, 23

WHAT: Three days after the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kickoff, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Harris County-Houston Sports Authority CEO Janis Burke, County Engineer Dr. Milton Rahman and biking advocates will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the recently completed Almeda Road Trail that connects pedestrians and cyclists to Holly Hall and on to NRG Park. The $1.13 million concrete trail, which runs from Old Spanish Trail to Holly Hall, will provide an alternative means of transportation for commuters to NRG Park, which also hosts Texans football games, NCAA Final Four later this month and other events. In addition to an environmentally friendly commute, cyclists and pedestrians will save on parking fees. The trail also provides connections to Brays Bayou Greenway, Hermann Park, sections of the Texas Medical Center to the north and the east-west path along Holly Hall.
