PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Reconstructing Tidwell Road will address growing traffic volumes and enhance safety for every road user. Precinct One is currently expanding about 1.1 miles of Tidwell Road from just west of Greens Bayou to CE King Parkway as a four-lane concrete boulevard with raised medians, improving intersections at John Ralston Road and CE King Parkway with turn lanes, and re-building a four-lane bridge over Greens Bayou. Improvements also include 6-8 feet wide sidewalks and replacing open, curbside ditches with curb and gutter storm sewers.
Construction will last about 28 months. Please use caution in the area while construction crews improve this area.
PROJECT BENEFITS:
Long overdue improvements to this roadway will:
- Ease traffic bottlenecks and safety for drivers by widening the roadway, adding turn lanes and improving signals at intersections
- Improve safety for pedestrians and prevent crashes by adding wider sidewalks
- Create a safer crossing over Greens Bayou by rebuilding the bridge damaged during Hurricane Harvey
- Reducing street flooding by improving drainage
